For those of you new to the Open or wanting more info on what the “Season” will look like:
*Thursday March 11th – First workout will be released online by CrossFit Headquarters (It will be called 21.1). You can watch this live announcement at games.crossfit.com
*Friday March 12th – all classes will be performing skills for the workout that was released Thursday and an active recovery workout. Heats for “Game Day Saturday” will be posted in Zen Planner by 12pm. You may sign up for those at any Friday or Saturday morning. If you sign up and then need to switch or cancel do ASAP so if someone else wants you heat time they can get it. We will also release a “Head to Head” event that may consist of 2 or more athletes that would be a good match for the workout released and we feel would have a good time exhibiting a friendly fun throwdown. I will also release a standards explanation video and logistics for our gym for the workout specifically so we will not have a brief on Saturday, be sure to watch this before performing or judging the workout.
*Saturday March 13th – “Game Day Saturday” is what we are calling it this year. Starting at 9am we will run heats of the workout until everyone has gotten to complete the workout. I will be at the gym to open the door around 8am.
*Thursday March 18th – Workout 21.2 released
*Friday March 19th – Heats released/practice day
*Saturday March 20th – Game Day Saturday
*Thursday March 25th – Workout 21.3 released
*Friday March 26th – Heats released/practice day
*Saturday March 27th – Game Day Saturday + end of the season celebration. We will have lunch pot luck after we workout and some games we would have done at our Christmas party (saran wrap game, etc). We will out more out about this closer to time.
The environment of Saturday will give you your best chance of getting the best score you can because you have the support of the whole community behind you that day. Make every effort to come! I promise it will not disappoint! If you are unable to complete the workout at “Game Day Saturday”, you are able to complete it at any other Open Gym time but you need to make sure you have contacted one of our judges who have taken the judges course (that list will be released). Also the more judges we can get the better! If you are interested in taking the course and don’t know how or where to take it contact me.
We will not have child care on Saturdays during the open so you need to set up alternate care or ask one of your fellow athletes who may not be in the same heat to help you out (make sure to ask them prior to Saturday so we can all plan our warm ups accordingly)
*If you are a drop in wanting to complete the Open workouts at CFHK please contact [email protected] or you can sign up on our website on our Zen Planner schedule calendar when we input the heat times on Fridays.
